In this practicum, we explore new media composing through a genre approach, acquainting ourselves w: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and Premiere, as well as Audacity and iMovie. We also discuss multimodal communication on a theoretical level.

Students in this course survey written communication genres found in industries like public relations, journalism, marketing, advertising, and business and professional writing. We also think critically about grammars of technical writing and of cultural rhetorics.

COM 190:  NEW MEDIA AND DIGITAL CULTURE

This intro class asks that we define nm, locate their historical emergence, and recognize their cultural impact; practice visual communication and new media composing (layout, video, audio); and analyze new media with rhetorical theory.
